Beside the chapel is a Book of Names. Historian Thomas Stoeckle is working for the Grafeneck Memorial Committee to identify as many of the victims as possible. Their names will be inscribed in the book, which will remain on permanent display at the memorial. Adjacent to the Book of Names is the Alphabet Garden, which is dedicated to Grafeneck's known and unknown victims. As of September, 2005, approximately 8,000 victims have been identified.
